Hong Kong Scientific Tobacco Control and Health Promotion Association Holds Inaugural Core Member General Meeting

 On July 6, 2026, the Hong Kong Scientific Tobacco Control and Health Promotion Association successfully held its first Core Member General Meeting in Hong Kong. Ying Chen, Deputy General Manager of Zhongshang Commerce Tobacco Co.，Ltd.  (hereinafter referred to as “our Company”), was invited to attend the meeting, joining discussions on scientific tobacco control and the healthy development of the industry. Together with representatives from other core member units, participants engaged in in-depth exchanges on key topics including tobacco control policy trends, market regulation and management, and long-term government–business communication mechanisms.

      The Hong Kong Scientific Tobacco Control and Health Promotion Association is a non-profit organisation lawfully registered in Hong Kong. Formerly known as the Hong Kong Tobacco Industry Joint Chamber of Commerce, it completed its renaming and functional transformation on June 17, 2026. Its membership includes multiple state-owned enterprises from the mainland as well as prominent local Hong Kong enterprises, and it is committed to deepening its work in scientific tobacco control under a new development orientation, contributing to the advancement of public health in the region.

      The Association consistently upholds its core philosophy of “Scientific Tobacco Control, Balanced Development.” It is dedicated to supporting the government’s tobacco control efforts, widely disseminating science-based knowledge on the harms of tobacco to the public, and promoting effective implementation of scientific tobacco control measures through diverse initiatives. At the same time, it safeguards the legitimate consumption rights and independent choices of smoking populations in accordance with the law, takes into account the stability of local fiscal revenues, and strives to balance the diverse interests of society. Through a gradual approach, it aims to reduce tobacco?related health hazards and continue to foster a harmonious, orderly, healthy, and clean public environment.
